My name is Joachim (Kim) Smit, born in Amsterdam in 1960 and a professional software developer since 1985. I am the initiator of Maziance.
Although my mother is well past 80, she is as fit, energetic and sharp as she was 20 years ago. She just doesn’t seem to age. I thought about the people my age who are not as blessed as me and have the care of a sick father or mother, perhaps a dementia patient.
Then I decided to develop a dementia clock with the ambition that it should be the best dementia clock ever made. Whether I succeeded in that is for others to judge, but at least I aimed for it.
We are now, in a quiet village in Belgium, working hard every day in a small team to further improve the Maziance dementia clock.
If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, we encourage you to contact us using the form found on this website.
And then this: the name Maziance explained. Caring for someone with dementia is something done by family caregivers, family members and professionals together. ‘Mazi’ means ‘together’ in Greek.
